Capoeira: The Art of a Dancing Fight

The Capoeira had birth in the time of slavery. The slaves were brought from Africa to Brazil to work in the plantations. Such as animals, they were forced to work and live in hungry, misery and pain. But they brought with them, their culture: the candomblé. So, in the senzalas, they used to make their rituals and from the candomblé, the Capoeira was cerated. The Capoeira looks like a inofensive dance, but it was a dangerous weapon against the "Senhores de Engenho".
After the slavery time, they had been left by society and they couldn´t get into the social life. So, to survive, they were forced to use the capoeira to steal and as auto-defense. A Federal law had been created to punish the capoeiristas but they continued training in hidden places. Mestre Bimba was responsabile to the re-institution of the capoeira and the end of this law. Today, there are just a few countries in the world that Capoeira schools don't exist.
